Purple Star Designation

Purple Star School

The Purple Star School designation recognizes schools that demonstrate a commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families. Military families often experience unique challenges as they navigate school transitions, new communities, and changes in routines. Schools can help make these transitions smoother by providing resources, support, and a welcoming environment.

New Carlisle Elementary School is working toward completing the requirements for the Purple Star School designation! We are committed to learning more about the needs of military-connected students and families and ensuring they feel welcomed, supported, and connected to our school community.

To earn the Purple Star designation, schools work to meet specific requirements, which include:

  1. Designating a Military Family Point of Contact to help military-connected students and families access school and community resources.

  2. Providing a dedicated webpage with helpful information and resources for military families.

  3. Establishing a student-led transition program to help new students feel welcomed and connected.

  4. Providing staff training to increase awareness and understanding of the unique experiences and needs of military-connected students and families.

Why Purple Star Schools Matter

The Purple Star program helps schools create supportive environments where military-connected students can thrive. These efforts help students adjust to new schools, build relationships, maintain academic progress, and feel a sense of belonging.

At New Carlisle Elementary, we believe every student deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported. As we work toward completing our Purple Star requirements, we look forward to strengthening our resources and partnerships to better serve military-connected families within the Tecumseh Local School District community.

Welcome to NCES! We are committed to excellence and helping every student be the best version of themselves.
