Important Information

Dear NCES Families,

As we continue working through the transition following the recent fire, we have made temporary changes to our arrival and dismissal procedures to ensure the safety of our students, families, and staff.

Please review the attached map carefully. The map is color-coded to help identify the appropriate routes and locations for:

• Walkers

• Parent Pick-Up

• Latchkey

Due to the limited space available for vehicle traffic, we ask that no one park in the regular parking lot or get out of their vehicle during arrival or dismissal unless you are picking up a child from Latchkey. The turnaround area is small and compact, and stopping or parking can quickly create traffic backups and safety concerns. Your patience and cooperation will be essential as we all adjust to these temporary procedures.

Parent Pick-Up families should follow the blue route on the map. This will be a continuous flow of traffic through the pick-up line. Please have your car rider placard clearly displayed in your vehicle window, just as you normally would. Staff members will call for your child, and students will exit from inside the building and enter vehicles from the sidewalk side. Once your child is safely in the vehicle, continue around the circle and wait to exit when it is safe to do so. Students should never walk around the vehicle or move between cars, as there will be a significant amount of traffic moving through the area. 

Latchkey families should follow the green route on the map. Drive past the circle and park in one of the designated Latchkey Parking spaces. Once parked, you may exit your vehicle and walk to the Latchkey entrance to pick up your child.

Please note that both Parent Pick-Up and Latchkey vehicles will exit using the same route. We ask all drivers to be patient, courteous, and attentive as traffic merges and exits the area.

For our fifth-grade families, all students should continue to follow their normal transportation arrangements to and from school. Fifth-grade students will arrive at NCES each morning and have breakfast and Fit Club at school as usual. Once the school day begins and other students head to their classrooms, we will gather our fifth graders, take attendance, and load them onto buses to travel to Medway. This process will be very similar to how we handle a field trip, ensuring that all students are accounted for before departure.

At the end of the school day, fifth-grade students will return to NCES in the same manner. Once they arrive back at NCES, they will follow their normal dismissal procedures, including parent pick-up, latchkey, walking home, or riding their regularly assigned bus. 

We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we work through these temporary arrangements and continue to provide a safe and smooth experience for our students. Because of this the Fifth Graders students should not be dropped off at or picked up from Medway Elementary unless they are being signed out for an appointment during the day.   

To help us keep track of all students and ensure everyone's safety, ALL transportation changes, drop-offs, and pick-ups will continue to be coordinated through the NCES office as usual. Thank you for your cooperation and support as we work through these temporary arrangements.

Staff members and deputies will be available to help direct traffic and answer questions during arrival and dismissal. Please allow extra time during the first few days as everyone becomes familiar with the new procedures.

Our goal is to maintain a safe and efficient process for everyone while repairs and restoration work continue. We appreciate your flexibility, cooperation, and support during this time.

Just a reminder that conferences are postponed at this time. We will communicate with you when we reschedule.
